Buttock Augmentation (BBL – Brazilian Butt Lift)

Butt aesthetics, also known as Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), is a plastic surgery procedure that reshapes body contours by removing excess fat tissues from the person’s own body and injecting them into the buttocks area after special procedures. The aim of this operation is not only to enlarge the buttocks, but also to create a more lifted, fuller and aesthetically balanced buttocks form.

The BBL procedure begins by removing excess fat from areas such as the waist, abdomen, back or thighs. In this respect, it slims and shapes not only the buttocks but also the general contours of the body. Thus, both the waist curve becomes more prominent and the hip contour gains a more feminine and natural appearance.

How is Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) performed?

BBL surgery is a two-stage procedure: In the first stage, fat tissue is removed from the body, and in the second stage, purified fat tissue is injected into the buttocks. The fat removed by liposuction is purified through special procedures and only healthy, living fat cells are transferred to the buttock area.

The surgeon carefully injects this fat into different parts of the buttocks to achieve a natural, proportionate and symmetrical appearance. This procedure takes about 4-5 hours and is usually performed under general anesthesia. The technique used naturally sculpts the form of the buttocks while at the same time accentuating the waist hollow – resulting in the aesthetic proportion known as the “hourglass figure”.

Who is BBL surgery suitable for?

BBL aesthetics is ideal for people who think that their buttocks are flat, sagging or misshapen, and who also have excess fat in certain parts of their body. Suitable candidates should have good skin elasticity and a sufficient amount of adipose tissue for fat injection.

This operation is especially preferred among women who experience changes in body contours after childbirth or people who lose their hip form after rapid weight loss. BBL creates a more feminine, natural and harmonic silhouette by balancing body proportions.

Recovery after BBL surgery

The recovery process after BBL requires careful monitoring and attentive care. Since sitting directly is not recommended for the first few weeks after surgery, special BBL pillows provide comfort during this period. Patients can usually return to their daily lives within 7-10 days, but it may take 2-3 months for the final results to settle.

Using a compression brace during the healing process helps reduce edema and help the body adapt to its new shape. Most of the fat cells injected into the body settle permanently, resulting in long-lasting, natural-looking results. It should also be kept in mind that smoking negatively affects the viability of the injected fat cells.

Are BBL results permanent?

Although BBL results are largely permanent, approximately 60% of the fat cells transferred during the procedure adapt to the new area and persist for many years. However, healthy living habits, balanced nutrition and regular exercise increase the permanence of the result. Sometimes, especially in people with limited fat tissue reserves, a second session of fat injections may be needed.

BBL performed with fat injection method does not contain artificial materials such as silicone implants. Therefore, the results feel natural and age in biological harmony with the body.

Other operations that can be combined with BBL

Although Brazilian Butt Lift often gives impressive results alone, it can be applied with other aesthetic procedures in the body shaping process. Although waist thinning (360 degree liposuction) is among the most preferred combinations, breast aesthetic operations can also be frequently accompanied.

Thanks to such combined operations, the body is reshaped as a whole. While the waist line is thinned, volume is added to the hip area; thus, a balanced, proportional and aesthetic body profile is achieved.
