Breast Lifting

Who can undergo breast lifting surgery?

Breast lifting surgery (mastopexy) is a surgical intervention that aims to reshape breasts that have lost their form due to factors such as birth, breastfeeding, weight gain and loss or natural aging process that women may encounter in their life cycle. Even if the breasts do not lose volume over time, sagging may occur due to the loss of elasticity of the skin and the effect of gravity. This surgery is performed by removing excess skin, reshaping the breast tissue and moving the nipple to a more aesthetic position.

Breast lifting becomes a prominent option for women who are satisfied with the volume of their breasts but have lost their erect and aesthetic appearance. In this respect, it is different from breast augmentation or reduction surgeries; because the main purpose here is to restore the breast to a younger, vibrant and harmonious form with body contours.

Recovery process after breast lifting

As with any surgical intervention, the healing process after breast lift surgery requires patience and care. Although swelling, tension and bruises may be seen in the breasts in the first days, this is part of the body’s natural healing process and will gradually disappear over time.

Regular use of medical bras in line with the physician’s recommendations, protection of the suture areas and avoiding heavy physical activities will help the process to progress healthily. While the return to daily life usually takes place within a few weeks, the final results of the surgery may take several months.

Breast lift surgery technique

Breast lift surgery can be performed with different techniques depending on the degree of sagging in the breasts. For mild sagging, only limited incisions around the nipple may be sufficient. For more severe sagging, vertical or inverted-T-shaped incisions are preferred.

The technique to be applied is determined according to the density of the breast tissue, the elasticity of the skin, the position of the nipple and the expectations of the person. Regardless of the method applied, the main goal is to reshape the breast with a younger, aesthetic and natural appearance. This helps women to feel in harmony with both their bodies and their reflections in the mirror.

What are the differences between breast lift surgery and breast reduction or augmentation?

When it comes to breast aesthetics, different surgical methods respond to different needs. While breast lift surgery aims to eliminate sagging without changing the volume of the breasts, breast reduction surgery aims to obtain smaller and proportionate breasts by removing both excess skin and breast tissue. In breast augmentation surgery, silicone implants are often used to add volume to the breasts.

For some women, a breast lifting alone is sufficient, while in some cases, a breast lifting may also require reduction or augmentation. The choice here is shaped after a detailed evaluation with the physician in line with the breast structure, body proportions and expectations of the person. Thus, it is aimed to meet both aesthetic concerns and functional needs at the same time.

Are the results of breast lift surgery permanent?

The results of breast lift surgery can last for many years. Although the breasts regain an upright, aesthetic and youthful appearance, the human body continues to change over time. Aging, gravity, pregnancy and breastfeeding or sudden weight changes can cause the breasts to sag again. In order for the results to last as long as possible, it is important to maintain healthy living habits, control weight and take care of skin health. In this way, the aesthetic appearance gained by the surgery can be maintained for many years and women can feel better about themselves.
